Updated with map October 2, 2018.
With leaves starting to change into their autumn splendor, harvest season is upon us again. Delicious fresh produce can be found at farmers markets and roadside stands around the region. Cambridge, Ontario residents young and old have started to think about doing some of their own harvesting – picking apples!
This area is well-known for having some tasty apples: Gala, Cortland, Honeycrisp, Empire, Northern Spy and the national apple of Canada, the noble McIntosh, to name a few. People who enjoy the crunch from a freshly picked apple are hitting the country road and travelling to nearby farms throughout this harvest season. With dreams of apple pies, sauces, ciders, butters and even apple butter barbecue sauce in mind, it’s no surprise that this is a popular activity.
We here at cbridge.ca really believe in the #eatlocal movement and wanted to pass along a list of farms within 50 km of Cambridge where you can pick your own apples.
